CFA flashcards, built from the material you are actually tested on

Pre-made CFA card sets are either shallow or out of date, and the curriculum changes every year. The better approach is to build cards from your own readings and notes, so every card maps to something you were taught.

Why build your own CFA deck

A workflow that fits a study plan

  1. Create a folder per topic area: Ethics, Quant, Economics, FRA, Corporate Issuers, Equity, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Alternatives, Portfolio Management.
  2. Upload one reading or one set of notes at a time and generate a deck into the right folder. Keeping decks to one reading makes it clear what you have covered.
  3. Study by folder before a topic mock, and by individual deck when you are closing a gap.
  4. When a card confuses you, ask the tutor. It answers from the reading you uploaded, not from the open internet, and the conversation is saved on the card.

What it costs

Creating cards by hand and studying is free with no limits. Generated decks use your document allowance: two documents free, ten per month on Basic ($4.99), and thirty per month on Pro ($9.99), which also reads up to 100 pages of each document. Most candidates on Basic generate one reading every few days and stay well within the allowance.

Questions

Can I use the official curriculum PDFs?

Yes, for your own study. Upload a reading at a time. Quizcard stores your files only to run your account and never shares them.

Does it handle formulas?

Formula text is read from the PDF, and when a formula appears as an image or in a figure, it is cropped onto the card as a picture.

Can I export to Anki?

Every deck exports to CSV and JSON, which Anki imports. See the Anki comparison for how the two tools fit together.
