Comparison
Looking for a Brainscape alternative?
Brainscape pairs a confidence-based repetition system with a large catalogue of pre-made decks. If what you need is cards from your own course material, with the figures intact, Quizcard takes a different route.
The main differences
- Source. Brainscape’s strength is its certified pre-made decks. Quizcard builds the deck from the PDF, Word doc, or slides you were actually taught from, so the cards match your syllabus and this year’s edition.
- Figures. Quizcard crops charts and diagrams from the PDF onto cards automatically. Brainscape cards are text unless you add images by hand.
- Context. Quizcard keeps the source attached with a reader, highlights, notes, and a tutor that answers from those pages.
- Repetition. Brainscape’s confidence ratings drive its scheduling; Quizcard uses simpler flip-card study by deck, folder, or topic, and exports to Anki for a full scheduler.
Cost
Brainscape Pro is a subscription that unlocks unlimited cards and advanced features. Quizcard is free for unlimited manual decks and studying, includes two generated documents, and its paid plans ($4.99 and $9.99 a month) add generated documents per month rather than gating your own cards.
Moving decks over
Brainscape exports decks to CSV. Import them in Quizcard with the Import cards button, map question and answer, and keep studying. Going forward, upload the chapter instead of typing the cards.
Questions
Does Quizcard have confidence-based repetition?
No. Study mode is flip cards by topic with shuffle. If scheduling matters to you, export to Anki and use both tools together.
Can I use Quizcard offline like Brainscape?
Yes. Install it from the browser on iOS or Android; decks you have opened stay available offline and sync later.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Your own decks and studying are free with no limits; the first two generated documents are free too.
